"My kid doesn't respect my boundaries" usually means you don't have a boundary — you have a request. A real boundary requires the other person to do nothing.

"I believe you" + "I believe in you" — both are required. One foot in the hole with someone, one foot out. Drop either half and you fail them.

The two jobs of any sturdy leader: set boundaries, and validate someone's experience without being taken over by it. Most of us are only doing one.

Bad behavior at any age is just feelings that overpower skills. The behavior isn't the core problem — it's a manifestation. Fix the skill gap, and the behavior follows.
